Easter!
I don’t normally dress up for Easter…but then I got that pink skirt, and a cardigan that happens to match, and some patterned tights. This is how I pulled it all together:

Necklace: $.50 from a garage sale
Tank: Target
Cardigan: on sale from J. Crew
Belt: Thrifted in Cimarron, Ks., $.50
Skirt: Thrifted, $1

I felt like I hadn’t worn one of my favorite winter skirts often enough this winter, so here it is again, styled up with a new cardigan I got for Christmas.
Necklaces: one from a garage sale, one from J. Crew on sale
Cardigan: J. Crew
Button-down shirt: thrifted at Maj-R Thrift in Shawnee Mission
Belt: free from Lynette
Skirt: thrifted at YWCA Treasure Chest
Tights: Target

Remember this $80 sweater from Ann Taylor? I bought it so I would have something up-to-date to wear with this thrifted skirt. I loved the wooliness and plaidness of this skirt when I spotted it at the YWCA Treasure Chest. I loved it more when I noticed it had a very small waist, so it was designed to sit high, and the tag looked pretty old. I loved it best when it only cost $1.
So I figured it...

I really dig the whole “chicks wearing fedoras” thing, so I was pretty excited to find this men’s hat at an estate sale last summer for $2. I liked the little red feather (not pictured…it’s on the left side, attached to the band) because it would match my red coat. Since it was wool, I waited for winter to wear it. So far I have worn it…once.

My lavendar arm warmers look pretty awesome with my blue and grey striped sweater, grey striped scarf, and the ever-stylish fleece vest, huh?
Whatever. It was frickin’ cold today. Like, 25 degrees F cold.

Fleece vest: gift from work
Turtleneck: free from someone (I can’t remember who)

Do I look like a turkey in this outfit? I kind of felt like one. But that’s okay. It was nearly Thanksgiving and an abundance of autumn colors was entirely necessary.

I wore this shirt and cardie not long ago. I thought I’d try it with this grey pencil skirt that I’ve had for ages (classic clothing, for the win). I tucked in the tops and belted the skirt to make the waist look higher. I got a couple of compliments, but I still felt school-marmish and pudgy. I think I felt pudgy because of the thickness of the two tops tucked in. Oh, well. I probably...

I’ve worn my black cowl neck sleeveless sweater with this skirt before, and I’ve worn it with my yellow jacket before, but I had never worn the three together until today. I was really pleased with how it turned out.
Jacket, sweater, skirt, tights, shoes: all from Target. It was so embarrassing to be wearing all these Target clothes and not realize it until I stopped by Target...

I was so excited to wear this new pink skirt! It’s a nice woven wool (or something), with a lining, so it was warm enough for fall. I wish I’d had a pair of cream or light brown or pink tights to wear, though. My legs got a little chilly.
Necklace: Gift
Cardigan: Old Navy (I have one of these in blue, too, and these two cardigans go with practically everything)

I’ve posted this pics of this skirt, top, and belt a few times. I tried it this time with cowboy boots, a scarf, and a chunky cable cardigan. I was at work alone and in two hours I only had two customers. So I took some snaps.

It wasn’t quite warm enough for this outfit yet, but I was pretty pleased with how professional I felt in it. My bag and shoes matched! These are one of two pairs of fully lined wool trousers I got from Ann Taylor—one brown and one black. I also got a jacket to go with this pair. I splurged on these items because they are warm, I’ll wear them for a long time, and I needed a...

I was a Girl Scout for Halloween. At work the day before, I wore my shirt and vest with khakis.
On Halloween, I shimmied into my original skirt—apparently my hips have grown much more than my waist—and wore the whole kit. A couple of friends joined me for our very own Girl Scout troop.
I enjoyed getting ready for Halloween this year so much more than I have in the past because I...

This is one of my favorite go-to outfits. The button-down pink shirt feels dressy, the longer short-sleeved purple shirt acts like a sweater, and the scarf is fun.
Note to self: Avoid making hips look bigger. Take hands out of pockets for pictures.
I’ve worn the scarf tied around my neck before. This time I tried a menswear look with the scarf worn like a tie.

Facilitated a focus group today. Glad I dressed up, because there was a photog from the newspaper in my room. The shot that got in the paper had me in the background. Kind of. It’s like a “Where’s Waldo” picture, where you can’t really see me. But whatever.

I’d post pictures, but I’m pretty sure you don’t want to see the pajamas I spent three days in while I was sick, or the jeans and tee shirt I managed to put on for a trip to the doctor today.
Will resume when my head stops feeling like it is going to explode.

Which do you prefer, What I Wore’s style of posting to tumblr where she inserts pictures in a text post, or Steph’s style of posting to tumblr, using a photo post to show a short slide show?
And if I start doing it Steph’s way, will she think I’m copying her?
Update: Okay. Good to know. I will carry on the way I have been, then. Thanks, guys.

09.09.26 Fall
The temperatures dropped around the beginning of September. I kind of expected to get another couple of warm weeks, but we never did. It’s time to do some closet switching. Here’s the to-do list:
Move lightweight jackets from the front closet to my bedroom closet.
Decide which skirts to wear through the fall/winter.
Move other skirts and dresses to back of closet.
Fold and put away...

I’m in Colorado this week, hiking.
I don’t feel cute when I’m wearing hiking clothes. But since I’m going to be moving and scrambling and sweating and needing warmth—and since I’m going to be using my body in ways that feel really good—I don’t mind.

This photo is from last year, on a trip to Seattle and Vancouver with my friend Marjie. Here I’m on an island in Puget Sound.
I’m on vacation again with my friend Marjie (and a couple of others) in Colorado this week.
Two thoughts:
1. I brought all of those same clothes—the tee shirt, the pants, the shoes—on this trip, too. Also brought the water bottle.
2. My word, I had a lot of hair....
